Originally developed for the UK Defence industry the Type C cables are still made generally in accordance with MoD Defence Standard 61-12 Part 4. The multicore cables are used as interconnections for high density wiring in computers, data processing, avionic control systems, security access, military vehicles and other electronic OEM applications.
TGF Senior Buyer.
Construction of this 7-2-8C is made up of
8 coloured cores of 7/0.20 stranded tinned copper conductors jacketed with LSZH insulation (pvc optional), cores twisted together and bound with mylar tape. The cable has an overall tinned copper wire braid screen giving 93% (70% optional) coverage to prevent electro magnetic interference. Cable has a rip cord and is jacketed with LSZH sheath (pvc optional).
Cable jacket material is low smoke halogen free compound with a flexible bend radius of 7.5 x overall diameter. Overall nominal diameter is 6.1mm.
Sheath colour in this instance is red (as specified by customer) but is usually black or grey.
Cable can be supplied in any colour or sheath material as required.
Maximum operating temperature is 70DegC but no definite limit can be given for low temperature because conditions of use are varied and include, for example, the rate of bending, the radius of bending and the length of time the cable is exposed to the low temperature.
The cable complies with EU RoHS 2 Directive 2011/65/EU, REACH and EN 50575 (Construction Products Regulation).
If you require DEF STAN cables (standard, or specific design) please contact us. We can supply optional cut lengths as well as brand the cable according to customer preference.
