RG179 B/U is a 75Ohm Coaxial Cable used for high-frequency signal transmissions and a variety of applications. These include video and audio security systems where high temperature is required, medical equipment and computer applications. RG179 cables have a lower signal attenuation which makes them useful long-haul communication and networking links.
The cable construction has an inner silver-covered copper-clad steel wire that carries the signal and the inner conductor has an insulation layer made of PTFE. The insulation layer is then enclosed by a silver-covered copper braid shield that forms the outer conductor and provides shielding against electromagnetic interference. Finally, it has a FEP jacket.
The benefits of using an FEP jacket is that protects the cable core from any mechanical, chemical or moisture elements. RG179 Cables also have a maximum temperature rating of 200°C which makes them very suitable for high temperature and high tech applications.
